Kentucky Jet Charter arranges flights for family milestones, including Sweet 16 parties, quinceañeras and bar and bat mitzvahs, whether the celebration is here in Kentucky or the family is flying somewhere else to mark it.
Bringing relatives to the celebration
These occasions bring together grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who may live in several different cities. One charter can stop in more than one city to collect relatives on the way, so everyone arrives at the party together. If the celebration is in Louisville, Lexington or Northern Kentucky, tell us where it is being held and we will look at which airport puts your guests closest. Relatives flying in from another country can clear customs at Louisville Muhammad Ali International, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky, or Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International.
Taking the party out of Kentucky
Some families would rather celebrate on a beach in Florida, on the Gulf Coast or in the Caribbean. We can fly the guest of honor, their friends and the family out together and bring everyone home afterward. For destinations outside the United States, landing permits are generally applied for after the trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the local airport authorities set the timeline.
Group size, grandparents and the meal on board
Family parties tend to grow as the date gets closer, so give us a realistic headcount that includes the children. For smaller groups, the flight operates under FAR Part 135, the FAA’s set of rules for on-demand, for-hire charter. Once the group runs past nineteen passengers, the trip calls for an airliner-size aircraft and no longer falls under FAR Part 135. Those flights operate under FAR Part 121 or a foreign equivalent, which generally carries stricter crew and operating requirements than both Part 91 and Part 135.
If a grandparent or another guest uses a wheelchair or has trouble with stairs, let us know at the start and we will check what the aircraft can accommodate. Mention any dietary needs or a special cake before we quote, and we will confirm what the operator can arrange. Our page on in-flight catering has more on food and drink for the flight.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
