Kentucky Jet Charter arranges private flights for fans, families and companies hosting clients at sporting events, whether the game is down the road in Kentucky, across the country or overseas. Some clients follow one team everywhere it plays, and others use a big game to host customers and staff.
College games in Lexington and Louisville
University of Kentucky and University of Louisville football runs through the fall, and basketball runs from November into March. Many fans plan their year around the rivalry games between the two schools. In March 2027, Louisville also hosts games in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Visiting fans can fly into Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky, as well as Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport or Bowman Field. Tell us where the game is being played, and we will look at which airport gets your group closest.
Away games and championships
When your team plays on the road, a charter lets your group leave from the Kentucky airport nearest to you and fly back once the game is over. Basketball season falls in the same months as Kentucky’s ice and snow, so a winter departure may need de-icing, and we keep an eye on the forecast with the operator. Tell us about extra bags or a pet traveling with you, and we will confirm it with the operator.
Small parties and large groups
A few friends or a family will usually fit on a light or midsize jet. Most charter flights run under FAR Part 135, the FAA’s set of rules for on-demand, for-hire charter. Once the group runs past nineteen passengers, the trip calls for an airliner-size aircraft and no longer falls under FAR Part 135. Those flights operate under FAR Part 121 or a foreign equivalent, which generally carries stricter crew and operating requirements than both Part 91 and Part 135.
Games outside the United States
Many countries require landing permits and customs authorizations. Permits are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the timeline is dictated by the local airport authorities. On the way home, Louisville Muhammad Ali International, Blue Grass Airport and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International can clear a flight arriving from abroad. Larger groups heading overseas can start with the VIP airliners we arrange.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
