Kentucky Smoking-Friendly Private Jet Charter

Kentucky Jet Charter can search for an aircraft that allows smoking on your flight from Louisville, Lexington or anywhere else in Kentucky, but you should know up front that the choice is limited.

Most charter aircraft are non-smoking

Whether smoking is allowed on board is up to the operator and the aircraft owner. Neither we nor the crew can make that call. Most aircraft available for charter today are non-smoking. A few operators permit it on particular aircraft, and some will only allow it if the owner agrees for that specific trip.

So it can often be arranged, but it takes some searching, and it is not something we can add at the last minute.

Tell us before we start quoting

If you want to smoke on board, tell us at the start, before we put together any quotes. We can then search only the aircraft that allow it. If it comes up after the quote, we usually have to start the search again, and in a busy week, such as the Derby or a Keeneland sale, the aircraft you wanted may be gone by then. Let us know whether you plan to smoke cigars, cigarettes or a pipe, too, because operators treat them differently.

A smoke-free cabin

Non-smoking is the standard, so nothing needs arranging. If someone in your party has an allergy, or is sensitive to smoke or to any lingering smoke smells, mention it when you call. Your advisor will take it into account when we compare aircraft for your trip.

Flights outside the United States

Once you land abroad, the destination country’s rules on smoking apply on the ground. Customs also limits how much tobacco you can bring in, the same as any other goods. Our passenger charter aircraft guide shows the categories we choose from for a trip like this.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
