Kentucky Flight Department Back-Up Charter

Kentucky Jet Charter arranges supplemental lift for corporate flight departments in Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky, for the days when the company aircraft is unavailable or a trip does not fit the fleet.

When flight managers call us

The aircraft goes in for scheduled maintenance and will be out for two weeks. A mechanical problem grounds it while your executives are away from home. Two trips land on the same day, and you only have one airplane. The board wants twelve people at a meeting, and your aircraft seats eight. In each case, the choice is to cancel the trip, put people on an airline, or charter an aircraft for that flight. We take care of the third option, subject to scheduling and aircraft availability.

The work we take off your desk

Finding a suitable aircraft at short notice takes time your team may not have, and so does getting a new vendor through procurement, finance and legal. We source the aircraft, check the operator, and send you a quote your company can approve. We are a broker. We do not own aircraft, and we arrange each flight with a certified operator as your agent, so our job is to find the right aircraft for your trip.

Fractional and jet card programs

The same service works for companies that fly on a fractional share or a jet card. For some trips, it is worth comparing a charter quote with the hours the program would use. We are happy to quote those trips so you can decide which way to fly them.

Setting up an account ahead of time

The easiest time to set this up is before the aircraft becomes unavailable. If you run a flight department in Kentucky, we can go through your vendor approval now and keep your company’s preferences and billing details on file. Then, when the first request comes in, it starts with a phone call. You can see the aircraft sizes we arrange on our passenger charter page.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
