Kentucky Jet Charter arranges private flights from Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky to film festivals in the United States and overseas, for filmmakers, producers, distributors and invited guests.
Planning around screenings and premieres
A festival week is built around fixed times: a premiere, a press day, a panel, a dinner. If a late connection makes you miss one of those, there is usually no second chance. With a chartered aircraft, you choose when the flight leaves, and we can plan a same-day return for anyone who has to be back in Kentucky the next morning. Weather and air traffic can still hold up any flight, so we leave some room in the plan around the events that matter most.
Festivals in mountain towns
Several well-known festivals take place in mountain towns, where the airports sit at high elevation and the weather can change quickly. The operator works out what the aircraft can carry out of that airport on the day of your flight, and the answer on the way home may be different from the answer on the way in. Your advisor will confirm both legs with the operator before you go, so you know ahead of time what the return flight can carry.
Arriving away from the crowds
Arrivals at a festival are watched closely. On a private flight you check in and board at a private terminal, away from the main airline terminal. We only share passenger names and travel plans with the operator and the crew flying your trip.
Festivals abroad
For a festival overseas, landing permits and customs arrangements are part of the trip. Permits are applied for once the trip is booked and paid, and the local airport authorities sometimes decide how long that takes. Festival dates are announced well in advance, so it pays to book early. For a group crossing the Atlantic, you can compare the larger cabins on our long-range jets page.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
