Kentucky Jet Charter arranges private flights from Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky to fashion weeks and trade shows, for designers, buyers, boutique owners, models and their guests.
Flying to the fashion weeks
The major fashion weeks take place in New York, London, Milan and Paris, on dates that are published well ahead of time. People who travel for them usually need to be in more than one city within a few days, and they often want to leave on the evening a show finishes. With a chartered aircraft, the flight leaves when your group is ready, so your travel can follow the show schedule. Your advisor will suggest an aircraft size for each leg, based on the number of people and the distance.
Room for the clothes
A collection takes up much more space than most people expect. Garment bags, boxes and rolling racks fill a baggage hold quickly, and on a smaller jet they can end up taking room away from the passengers. When you send us your dates, tell us how many pieces are coming and how they are packed. Your advisor will use that to choose an aircraft with space for the whole load, and for everyone traveling with it.
Shows outside the United States
For shows abroad, the trip needs landing permits and customs arrangements at the other end. Permits are applied for once the trip is booked and paid, and the local airport authorities sometimes set the timeline. On the way home, Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport can each clear a flight arriving from abroad. If samples or stock for sale are on board, let us know early, because customs treats goods for sale differently from personal luggage. When the collection needs to travel ahead of the team, our air cargo charter page explains how we move it on its own.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Kentucky-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Kentucky’s busiest weeks follow the racing calendar. The Kentucky Oaks and Derby fill Louisville on the first weekend of May, and Keeneland’s spring and fall meets and its horse sales bring owners and buyers into Lexington, so those dates book first, and the FAA manages arrivals into the Louisville airports during Derby week. The rest of the year, flights leave the state for business, for Florida in the winter and for family vacations. Most Louisville trips use Louisville Muhammad Ali International or Bowman Field, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington sits across the road from Keeneland, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International in Hebron serves the north of the state, and Bowling Green, Owensboro and Paducah cover the south and west. Ice and snow in the winter and strong spring thunderstorms are the weather we watch most often.
